TitleLog book. Also includes dimensions of the school and names and career record of school staff at the front of the volume. During the Second World War, the school received evacuee children and staff from schools in London and northern Surrey. The evacuees were merged with the Byfleet pupils and staff and lessons were held both at the school and in the village hall. The first evacuees arrived on 1 Sep 1939 and by 6 Nov, the school had received 99 evacuees from Sacred Heart RC School, Merton Abbey School and Bushey School, all in Merton; and the London County Council schools at Brandelhow Road, Putney, and Peterborough Road, Fulham. The log book records that many evacuees returned home in the months after Christmas. On 1 Jul 1940, the school received 50 more children and teachers from Waller Road Junior Middle School, Deptford, who had originally been evacuated to Brighton.
