Descriptive Information about the Record (click to expand) Provenance Transferred by Tony Hawley, following his retirement as Senior Team Manager of IS3, and accessioned in May 1998.
-Introduction The agreement between the Education Committee and Fullers Earth Union Ltd allowed the latter access to and the right to extract Fullers Earth from a site in the grounds of Nutfield Priory School for the Deaf, Redhill. Once every six months, the Fullers Earth Union Ltd (from 1967, known as Laporte Industries Ltd) paid a proportion of any profits raised to the Education Committee.
The agreement was accepted by resolution of the Estates Committee, who approved all such arrangements relating to Council property, on 1 Jul 1952 (CC767/53/1/6, p51) and is noted in the minutes of the Education (Finance and General Purposes) Committee (CC767/40/8/26).
The site was sold to the Reigate Corporation in 1968.
