Descriptive Information about the Record (click to expand) Provenance The majority of the records were deposited by the Rector and Parochial Church Council in 1959.
Three documents relating to Smith's and Roane's charities, (P28/5/2-4: 1676, 1725, 1781), were deposited by the Trustees of Chaldon Village Hall in 1966.
-The records The records include registers, 1564-1812, a survey of the benefice, 1812, the tithe apportionment, 1838, and later altered apportionments to 1930, as well as churchwardens' accounts, 1715-1895, poor rate assessments and overseers' accounts and vouchers for the mid eighteenth to the mid nineteenth centuries, a small group of removal orders and settlement examinations, 1768 and 1803-1826, two settlement certificates, 1728 and 1759, and vestry minutes, 1819-1923. There are also two plans, one made for the rector in 1825, and the other made in 1837 in connection with a revaluation of the parish. Eighteenth and nineteenth century charity accounts are included in the churchwarden's account books.
