Descriptive Information about the Record (click to expand) Provenance The records of St Mary Magdalene, Reigate were deposited in 1967 by the Vicar and Parochial Church Council.
The records of St Matthew, Redhill were deposited by the Vicar and Parochial Church Council in 1972.
-The records The records of St Mary Magdalene, Reigate, include registers from 1556 and an account book, 1710-1746, of the then vicar, Mr J Bird, which includes notes of payments made him for teaching.
Also deposited were papers, 1771, 1790, 1793, of the vestries of Reigate Borough and Reigate Foreign, decided at Easter Sessions 1693 to have been administered as separate units time out of mind (see P49/3/3-6), and settlement. bastardy and apprenticeship papers of the late seventeenth and eighteenth centuries for both the Borough and the Foreign, as well as accounts of Smith's (1778-1784) and Parker's (1785-1789) charities for the Foreign. Other records relating to Parker's charity survive among title deeds of St Anne's Redhill
(ref. 359/-).

series: P49/200/ - ST MATTHEW, REDHILL PARISH RECORDS Scope: The parish was formed in 1867. The church had no burial ground and shared that of St John the Evangelist, Redhill (see P49/100/1/-). The records deposited consist of baptism and marriage registers, beginning in 1866 and 1867 respectively, a few episcopal marriage licences, and managers' minute books of Warwick Town (later St Matthew's) Schools, 1855-1964.
