Descriptive Information about the Record (click to expand) Provenance Deposited on long loan by the Vicar and Parochial Church Council in March 1960, September 1966, September 1980 and October 1982.
-Introduction Pyrford, formerly a chapelry of Woking, was appendent on Wisley [rectory] by 1631. (This arrangement withstood more than one attempt to unite Wisley with Byfleet.) Each parish kept its own registers, wardens and overseers, and there are still two distinct vestries. Pyrford, the junior partner in the union, was always the larger and more populous parish, and the modern church of the Good Shepherd (1964) stands among nineteenth and twentieth century development in the northern part of Pyrford. Since certain classes of more recent records treat the two parishes as one unit, and in any case the majority relate to Pyrford, they have been listed under Pyrford.
