    Introduction
St John the Baptist in West Byfleet was built in 1912 and became a separate ecclesiastical parish in 1917. An iron chapel existed previously as a daughter church of St Mary. This was on part of the Broadoaks estate fronting on to Parvis Road. It was probably later moved to a site in Claremont Road and used as the Church Room (see BY/7/7/26-29).
