HER 10019 - WHITE LION PUBLIC HOUSE
Building of 16th century with alterations. L-shaped with floor levels changing to the hill slope. 2 storeys and basement, 2 windows in old part with a late 19th century left lean-to and right extension. High pitched roofs, renewed in machine tiles, and rebuilt chimneys. Roughcast, 1st floor with imitation half timbering. 19th century casements, some with fancy leaded glazing. Modern door hood. Gable-ended wing on front to Grovehill Road has old compound chimney stack. Inside there are 4 rooms with good original ceilings, both beams and joists chamfered with stepped or tongued stops; and a smoke-bay now walled up. Listing NGR: TQ2744650266
