HER 1092 - Supposed Roman road at Cuddington Court Farm
At Cuddington Court Farm excavation revealed a layer of flints, 9-12 inches thick, running roughly north to south, twenty feet wide, at a depth of two feet. Some distance north of the excavation, the construction of a new road intersected a similar layer of flints which ran in a direction roughly from the gates of Nonsuch Palace, on the Epsom-London road (Old Stane Street) towards the church at Banstead. However, it is probable that this was a natural 'bullhead chalk' feature.
