HER 1250 - "Walkingstead" deserted medieval village
Walkingstead, published as a district name on the Ordnance Survey 6 inch map, is mentioned as 'Walkhampstead (Godstone)' by the Victoria County History. Except for the Field System (see HER 1259), there are no remains. The presence of the church (HER 1253), the possible motte (HER 1249) and field system (HER 1259) make the former existence of a village in this area extremely likely.
