HER 13584 - Esher Place, Esher Park Avenue, Esher
Nothing substantive remains of the 18th century park and gardens. However, the early and late 19th Century houses brought new gardens within the 18th century wider setting. Little remains of these since the residential developments of the 20th century, but the present Esher Place retains its immediate surroundings, formal to the east and informal to the west. The open-air theatre is a modern feature of interest. In the wider area are the Lodges, the old walled garden, the Temple or Grotto, and the sunken garden by Lutyens. The immediate surroundings of Esher Place are of some interest in their own right and perhaps more so in their historic context.
