HER 13585 - The Homewood, Portsmouth Road, Esher
The House of 1938 was placed in the mature setting of the earlier Victorian house, on higher ground with a view south down the length of the garden. The house was by the architect Patrick Gwynne for himself and remained his home and work base until his death in 2003,. The garden at 2005 includes some mature trees but is largely the result of Gwynne’s efforts since the 1960s. The house and gardens are the work of one man and are inseparable.
