HER 1628 - "Loseley House" - 1561-9, Artington

Loseley House, an impressive stone Elizabethan mansion, built 1561-9 as half "H" shaped house with the open end closed by a wall and gatehouse. The moats are ornamental stretches of water contemporary with the house, not fragmentary remains of a homestead moat. The north wing and south arm of the moat are still extant.
