HER 1663 - Guildhall built 1683 on Site Of Earlier Building

The Guildhall, Guildford, dates from 1683. The bell-turret and roof have recently been renewed. The building has a projecting upper storey (Council Chamber) supported by great grotesque brackets, and surmounted by cupola and vane. The clock (1683) projects over-road. The Guildhall, took the place of an earlier building which was in existence in 1587-8.
