HER 16713 - Waverley Abbey and Waverley House gardens, Farnham
The grounds surrounding Waverley Abbey originate from the medieval period in association with the Cistercian monastery. Waverley Abbey House and gardens date from c. 1725 and both can be seen in an engraving of Waverley Abbey in 1737 by J and N Buck. The grounds featured lakes, two large kitchen gardens, ornamental gardens and are thought to originate from the latter 18th century. The gardens in the immediate vicinity are little changed from the 1870's OS plan.
