HER 17345 - RIDLANDS FARM, Ridlands Lane, Oxted
On a 1312 map this farm is shown as Redelands. It was extensively rebuil tin 1600 and is marked as Rid Land Farm on the Rocques map dated 1765. The 1841 tithe shows it as Ridlands. A Harleian manuscript lists it as the home of Stephen atte Redelond 1418 Harl. The name probably derives from 'cleared land' v. ridde.
