HER 1843 - Roman Villa (3rd -4th Century), Broadstreet Common
Roman corridor villa on Broadstreet Common excavated in 1829 by the Earl of Onslow. It was 62' x 23' and consisted of five rooms. Pottery and a coin indicate a late 3rd and 4th century occupation. Pavement removed to Clandon Park. There is now no trace of this building: the site falls on common land at present under pasture.
