Scheduled Monument
London mobilisation centre c.1892, Box Hill Fort. Was used to store ammunition and equipment ready for the mobilization of armed forces in the event of a war. Built as part of the "Defence of London" scheme. However, in 1906 the scheme was abandoned and the sale of the land acquired began in 1907. Box Hill centre became disused and dismantled.
