HER 193 - Site of Denbies Mobilisation Centre, Wotton
The site of Mobilisation Centre, circa 1890 at Denbies. Erected as part of the "Defence of London" Scheme, this site was to serve as a mobilisation centre and storage post, strategically positioned, in event of war. The project was abandoned in 1906 and the fort was dismantled. The site was levelled and all traces of the earthwork were removed prior to development in 1971.
