HER 2173 - Bronze Age Flints And Palstave, Farnham
Prehistoric material recovered when draining the Recreation Ground at Badshot Lea in 1937 included three Bronze Age barbed and tanged arrowheads (two Beaker type). The arrowheads were found on the edge of the Recreation Ground. See HER 2741 and 2172 for other finds from site. A Middle Bronze Age palstave was found nearby at Tice's Farm, Runfold. The site lies on the junction of the Reading beds and the London clay, covered by the alluvium of the old bed of the former Wey in the Pleistocene. The site lies just below the 250ft contour. The implement is 15.8cms long, 7.6cms wide and 3.7cms thick. The palstave is now in Farnham Museum.
