HER 2882 - Remainss of cow in buried river channel: Friends’ Burial Ground, Staines
A fully articulated skeleton of a cow, buried on its side, its skull turned back over its shoulder was found in a pit during the excavation of Roman and medieval Staines (HER 807 and 2869) in 1975-76 at the Friends' Burial Ground site. The burial pit is roughly oval, cut into Bronze Age features, in which was found Carbon 14 date of c. 870+/- 100 B.C. See HER 2880, 2881, 2884, 2885 and 2886.
