HER 2894 - Saxon-Norman pottery, medieval, Post-medieval material, 9-11 Market Square, Staines
Excavation in advance of redevelopment at County Sports, Market Place, Staines in 1981 recovered Roman material. Excavation recovered Medieval/Post medieval material including Saxo-Norman pottery. Late 12th century levels and a medieval well and ovens were also revealed. Clear late Roman occupation and clear late 12th century occupation layers were observed, in between was black earth containing the Saxon- Norman pottery (circa 9th-12th century). Part of medieval/Post-medieval Staines (HER 2869 and 2893).
