HER 385 - Palaeolithic Handaxe, Abinger Hammer

An Acheulian ovate handaxe, with secondary chipping found in 1935 in the field immediately behind the school at Abinger Hammer. Nothing is known of its current whereabouts.

Yvette O\'Brien In 1976 while re-visiting my uncle's farm in Send, my cousin and I found some Neolithic flint implements in a field - quite a few. I just kicked up a few and would not have known what they were had I not seen some a few days previous in a museum in Cheddar Gorge!

I still have them. I live in Australia and would like to find out more about archaeology in the Send area.
