HER 4334 - 17th Century Building Remains: London Road, Reigate

Section across a building on the Auction Room site, London Road, Reigate recorded for Holmesdale Archaeology Group in 1988. The remains were identified as the rear of a probably early 17th century building backing onto the lip of the castle ditch and demolished and backfilled circa 1700. Earlier levels may have existed here. The remains had previously been hidden by a cellar wall and seem to have been partly destroyed by recent work. A few sherds of pottery was recovered which dated the structure to the early 17th century.
