HER 5171 - Medieval pottery kiln, Ridlands Lane, Limpsfield
Probable medieval pottery kiln. The site was found when a darker stain, about 9m in diameter, showed up on the surface. 25 pottery sherds, as well as lumps of burnt earth, were visible on the surface. The close proximity of two other kilns suggests that this is likely to be a similar feature. Discovered by casual observation in 2002. The site is probably related to other nearby pottery kilns that were excavated by the Bourne Society in 1975 and 1978 (see HER 4367).
