HER 7496 - THE HOMEWOOD
House. 1938-9 by Patrick Gwynne in Modern Style. Brick, mosaic tiling over concrete below, concrete and glass above, flat concrete roofs. L shaped main block with principal rooms on upper floor to left, service wing to right connected by staircase hall. 2 storeys. Entrance front: projecting wing to left on concrete piers and central round mosaic pier with saucer lights supporting first floor over the driveway. Vertical plate glass sliding window to first floor, 2 on right side of wing, 4 on the left. Board door in stainless steel and glass block surround to centre of recessed ground floor wall. Range to right with projecting wing to end separated by vertical louvred fence. Continuous glass panels to first floor, planked garage doors to ground floor. Right hand return front: exterior staircase with iron balustrade from first floor. Left hand return front : continuous window band to first floor with two balcony recesses. Rear: Glazed and panelled first floor over brick piers on ground floor. Listing NGR: TQ1232062451
