HER 902 - Earthwork: probably a medieval stock enclosure, Banstead
Scheduled Monument
Earthwork consisting of three rectangular bank and ditch enclosures of strong profile and in good condition situated on the north part of Banstead Heath (See also HER 897, 2494, 2495 and 2496).
The enclosure at TQ 2358 5533 was excavated in May 1928 by Winbolt and Hooper but yielded no positive evidence of date or purpose. Three sherds of 16th or early 17th century pottery and one portion of doubtful Romano-British pottery were found.
The earthwork is probably a medieval stock enclosure or pound.
