HER 926 - Foundations and supposed findspot of weapons (probably medieval) at Great Burgh

John Evelyn reported that "........ digging about the bottom near Sir Christopher Buckles, neere [sic] Banstead, divers medials have been found both copper and silver with foundations of houses, wells, urns etc" [sic]. This may refer to Yew Tree Bottom Road at TQ 230 589, or a possible reference to finds from Preston Hawe (HER 922).
