HER 951 - Medieval enclosure earthwork on the cricket-field at Woodmansterne.
On Woodmansterne Cricket field and Recreation Ground are the remains of a sub-rectangular enclosure measuring some 350m by 150m It has been severely mutilated and reduced to a bank some 10m in width and 0.6m in height with no traces of a ditch. Although the work with its slightly rounded corners, bears a superficial resemblance to a Roman work, the absence of entrances etc. preclude this. Therefore, the earthwork is almost certainly of medieval origin and the name 'Court Haw' which occurs locally almost certainly applies.
