In a timber-framed building, a jetty is a projection of an upper storey beyond the storey below, made by the beams and joists of the lower storey oversailing the wall.

Numerous examples of this type of house are known in Surrey. A late 15th- early 16th century jettied house can be seen at 33-35 High Street, Leatherhead. Weller Eggar, Estate Agents, on the corner of Quarry Street and Mill Lane in Guildford is a recently restored example that originally dates to the 16th century.
