Moot

An outdoor meeting or assembly place, traditionally to decide local issues.

Several moot sites are known in Surrey from documentary evidence, including the 17th century moot site of Leith Pit for the Copthorne and Effingham Hundred.  The site of the medieval moot of Spelthorne hundred has been suggested as a place on Ashford Common, as a field called Spelthorne Pasture is shown on the Ashford tithe map of 1811.
