The most widespread type of Bronze Age cinerary urn in Britain. The first collared urns appear around 2000 BC, and remained in use for about 600 years. They were commonly used for holding cremated human remains within a burial mound (round barrow).

Collared urns are characterised by a heavy overhanging rim or collar, usually bevelled internally. Incised decoration is found on both collar and bevel. Several other types of Bronze Age cinerary urn are also known, including Cordoned, Trevisker, Bucket-shaped and the Wessex biconical urn.
