Britain’s first Grand Prix was held at Brooklands Motor Racing Circuit in 1926. The track was built in 1907 and there were many successful world record attempts here. You can still walk on parts of the steep banking of the track. Later, the Hurricane aircraft was built at the Vickers factory on the site.

The motor racing circuit and many other buildings on site are part of a scheduled monument
In the 1920s J.G. Parry-Thomas had 38 firsts, 25 seconds and 14 thirds over five years of racing at Brooklands, in addition he broke over 100 class records and held the Land Speed Record in 1926.
