Bill Mallion I was born in 1932,in Garendon Road on the St Helier Estate. Our postal address was MORDEN,Surrey. We moved 1939/40 round the corner onto the Sutton Bypass (orignally A217 Tooting-Hookwood Road: how many locals know where Hookwood is- and Povey Cross..?!) Our address became 24 Reigate Avenue,SUTTON.Our parish was CARSHALTON. The builders and owners of our house:LONDON County Council. Our services came from CROYDON Gas Company, SUTTON and District Water Company and County of LONDON Electrical Supply Company (CLESCO). I attended the Infants, Junior Mixed and Senior Boys\' sections of Glastonbury Road School, which was SURREY County Council. We shopped at SOUTH SUBURBAN Co-operative Society on the corner of Rose Hill and Rose Hill Avenue. I worked for the then WANDSWORTH & DISTRICT Gas Company in the offices in front of the gasworks at the bottom of High Street SUTTON !!
