Nutcracker cottage is a seventeenth century house which would have been situated within Holmwood Common before the turnpike road was diverted beside it. It originally had two bays and an end chimney but has since been extended. It was once surrounded by other ancient cottages which were demolished on construction of the adjacent Studio and Sefton Villas. Previously known as Royston Cottage, in the early twentieth century it was in use as a laundry.
