Adult Education Talks and Tours

Tours

For adult education groups who want to learn more about what happens to documents and books before they are ready to be used for research. Tours include the holding and sorting room, cleaning and packaging, the paper conservation room and one of the strong rooms. There's the opportunity to chat as you go to get advice for researching your area.

Tours take about an hour and a half and cost £30 for a group of up to 15 people.

Introductory Talks for Adult Education groups

For beginners

Bring your group to an introductory talk where they can learn how to use Surrey History Centre for their research. Find out what they need to get in to the search room, and how to get access to the many wonderful resources available.

Talks include an online demonstration of the archive catalogue aimed to give the group an understanding of how they can search for themselves. This talk should help your group gain confidence in using Surrey History Centre for the early stages for their research.

Beyond beginners

This talk will assume that your group has used an archive or done some research but would like help learning more about how to use the online catalogues and how to use the web for more advanced local history research.

These talks cost £30 with a maximum of 25 people. Talks can be combined with a tour by special arrangement. To discuss your group's needs and to book, please contact Janet Nixon. Tel 01483 518746 or janet.nixon@surreycc.gov.uk
