‘To Journey’s End and Beyond’

Surrey Heritage is delighted to announce a free, full day of talks and discussion, covering every aspect of RC Sherriff’s life and career, from the trenches to the global success of ‘Journey’s End‘, and Hollywood.

Speakers include:

  • Juliet Gardiner, social historian
  • David Grindley, award-winning Journey’s End revival director
  • Robert Gore-Langton, theatre and arts writer
  • David Cottis, director and lecturer
  • Michael Lucas, military historian
  • Roland Wales, the new Sherriff biographer
  • and our very own project archivist, Zoe Karens.

The day will also include living history re-enactors, displays by Kingston Grammar School, and treasures from the Sherriff archives held at Surrey History Centre. Persephone Books will be launching their reprint of Sherriff’s 1936 novel Greengates, and some of the programme speakers will be selling signed copies of their books on the day.
