The Amazing World of Alice in Wonderland


Tim Burton released his blockbuster film Alice in Wonderland, set after the events of Lewis Carroll’s original books but featuring many of the same characters. Mary Jean Hargreaves, now with the surname St Clair, told journalists that ‘Grandmother Alice would have been amazed to see how people still love the story so many generations later. I can’t say she would have approved of the film. It looks loud and manic, which wasn’t her style.


The 150th anniversary of the boat trip during which the story was first told to Alice and her sisters.
