This vase stood on the mantelpiece at Croft rectory, North Yorkshire, the home of Charles Dodgson, better know as author Lewis Carroll. It is of cranberry glass with a pattern of white enamel and gilding, and was made around the 1860s.

After their father’s death, Charles moved his sisters to The Chestnuts in Guildford where he lived until his death in 1898. Charles Dodgson/Lewis Carroll is buried in Guildford cemetery.
