Links to Black history websites

There are a growing number of websites related to Black history. The following are a selection that consider various aspects of Black history. Some are useful for researching Black ancestors:

  • CASBAH research resources relating to Caribbean studies and the history of Black and Asian peoples in UK. This site has now been archived but does include contact details and information about the project.
  • Jamaican Family Search information about some of the resources available. Includes some online transcriptions.
  • www.lascars.co.uk information about Asian, African and other foreign seaman serving on British ships.
  • Moving Here has information on migration histories. In the Tracing your Roots gallery there are useful tips on how to research your ancestors. There is an interesting case study of Paul Crooks who traced his Caribbean and West African roots back to 1777.
