The gallery below has been created from pictures which appeared in the Woking News and Mail during the Great War (1914-1918). The photographs record some of the men and women from Woking who served in the First World War. Click on one of the thumbnail images to open a slide show.

The following spreadsheet contains orange highlights, these are details of individuals we do not have details for. We are interested to hear from anyone who has family connections with any of the men and women featured below or has any information about them. Please use the form at the end of the page to leave comments or e-mail us at [email protected]

Click this link to download a PDF copy of a spreadsheet which accompanies the gallery below. The spreadsheet gives more details about the pictured individuals, including their rank, where appropriate. The spreadsheet lists the names in alphabetical order and the images are presented in the same order. Hover over one of the thumbnails to see the individual’s name.

This gallery and the accompanying spreadsheet have been created as part of Surrey Heritage’s Woking Remembers project and gives an impression of the type of information that will be available though Surrey’s First World War Centenary project: A County Remembers: Surrey in the Great War.
