Godalming Museum

As part of the March of the Women project an audit has been undertaken of the resources held at partner museums.

The museum’s suffrage collection includes a small display celebrating landscape gardener and suffragist Gertrude Jekyll, including the banner she designed for the Godalming branch of the National Union of Women’s Suffrage Societies, which is on display. Gertrude also makes an appearance on the ‘Who’s Who’ wall on the first floor.

Godalming Museum has a strong local history collection, displaying machinery from local factories, a ‘who’s-who’ wall of local people, and a portrait of Jack Philips, a local crew man who was lost on the titanic in 1912. The museum is child-friendly with multiple interactive activities. The museum has some objects not on display which can be seen on request.
